A fascinating individual to have met in a past life. On February 20, 2012, President's Day, Charlie Rose (Charlie Rose program on PBS each night) brought together a group of historians, to discuss past presidents. It was a great discussion. One of the guests was Doris Kearns Goodwin who wrote "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" which was published in 2005. This is a book that inspired Obama to invite individuals who were competitors such as Hilary Clinton, into his cabinet. Wonderful story Elaine. A fascinating individual to have met in a past life.

I've noticed some of what you're saying about his shrewdness and sophistication, although I am not in any way a true scholar, more of an ardent fan or something like that. I get so emotionally connected to him I almost cannot read about him, does that sound odd? I surround myself with stuff and wondered yesterday if all those books are going to be mostly devoured by me soon or in old age? Johnny, I hear you! I've always been interested in his character and the times in which he lived. It's funny, in college I took Civil-War classes where Lincoln's policies were scrutinized. Honest Abe, the simple backwoods lawyer most people think of was in reality one of shrewdest and most politically adept presidents's we ever had. I'm interested in reading more about it. I don't know of any Welsh ancestors; all family history traces to Scotland and Ireland, but you never know who may have crossed a border!
