Babies Know EVERYTHING!

Posted on 26 July 2010

Babies are no fools. They sense and see and feel exactly what is going on around them. They’re innocent, though, too, in that they are vulnerable and subject to our actions and choices. And, they’re learning how to deal with motor skills and how to handle all that sensory in-put. They’re amazing. I believe the ones coming through now are the ones who will both inherit all the choices made before them by everyone else who came to live on Planet Earth, and they’re also the ones to have the burden to fix it. But I think they’re more ready and more “knowing” than ever. These are incredible children.  Recently, at the Westport Public Library, in the children’s section, where I was set up to draw with children, I came across two toddlers who stunned me. They were strong and bold, kind and sweet. They walked right up to a little easel and took up the charcoal. Instead of putting it directly into their mouths (which is what I had expected they might do), they began to draw, looking at me with big sparks in their eyes. They were not trying to get my approval so much as they were trying to show me how the truly “got” what it was I was doing. I was so impressed with their powerful personalities, I can’t stop thinking about them!

Young babies are so precious, Innocent, pure, always aware of their surroundings, always learning – they are the society of the future. But why did God give them such powerful lungs? It’s a shame we are all caught up in the trappings of Society, and the responsibilities it entails. We must protect these precious ones for as long as we can

Natasha, I am pretty sure the powerful lungs of babies is what keeps them alive, so they can scream for their food and so everyone will know when they have needs. There is nothing more upsetting to human ears than a baby crying in misery.

This is quite an adorable Drawing. I agree, babies and small ones in general, are very quick and intuitive, especially if the parents expect them to be. I was not blessed with children, but have many friends now, and over the years, and family as well, and I enjoy a lot of contact with the kids. The Brightest kids are not always from the Brightest parents, the really quick ones, seem to be the ones who’s parents encourage more from them sooner. This one in the drawing seems to be taking it aaal in.

My guy here was taking it all in, with a spark in his eye and a knowing grin. He was always patient when I’d be talking to another mom, for example, and one time I realized, “Hey, maybe he knows what I’m saying.” So I decided I’d ask him to blow a spit bubble. He immediately did it. I realized he’d been taking it allll in for quite a while, just quietly listening!

I was always amazed at how my newly verbal kids would suddenly read my thoughts and enter the conversation I was having with myself. I’d be thinking, “Oh, there’s a Dairy Queen up ahead…” and then one of them would say, “Ice cream?” That was always fun…
