The Spirit to Travel

Posted on 13 July 2010

I did this art piece recently for a travel site called Farewell Travels, www.farewelltravels.com. It is an excellent site and I was honored to do this piece. I keep thinking that traveling is often the best thing for the spirit. You get a new perspective, you swim in new energy and new sights, you realize the world is not so small and specific as it seemed the day before you left on your journey. Traveling enhances spiritual knowing and expands vision.  It’s good for the human soul. On the other hand, if you can’t travel, you can “go places” in your mind and in your creative life. Books and art and music help us arrive at new insights and allow us to expand in our knowledge without requiring passports.  All you have to have is your own desires and your “artistic license”. (By the way, you must see films produced by Strategic Filmworks, also on view at farewelltravels. They are stunning creative works).

    Hi Elaine.

I wanted to say hi, and let you know I have really enjoyed seeing Westport through your eyes. It has been so much fun, and insightful!
I hope all is well with you and the boys. Where are you living these days? We are slightly up the road. Busy doing the same old thing.

How long are the sketches @ Oscars for? I will hopefully get to catch them in person.

Best, and I look forward to keeping in touch though your sketchbook.

    Judi

Thank you so much, Judi. I’ve had the best time sketching Westport and appreciating people through drawing. I am touched that you left me a message. Maybe we’ll see you soon, and I hope you’re enjoying the summer with your beautiful children! The art should be up at Oscar’s through July.
      best,
      Elaine

The doors are open wide to a whole new experience! I love this — it really entices one to explore outside their realm.

You have such a beautiful and honest way of expressing things. You describe the essence of travel perfectly.
It IS so good for the spirit!

I don’t know how I missed this. The is Magical for me. That you were commissioned for a travel Business is amazing. You are so wonderfully outside the commercial box. It opens up such Delightful possibilities. The Luggage is playful and perfect, ans looking from the beautiful, solid, warm, but staid surroundings of of the interior, and seeing the wonders that lie ahead , makes me consider if the voyagers got so enthralled that they left their luggage behind. This is beautiful.

Stephan I love your read on this (you always find the humor so well!). The idea that the people were so taken by the idea of their trip, they left their luggage behind made me smile! Thank you again.
